…is for Jesus.
One of the pleasures of searching out the ‘gifts’ for this Advent season is being given an excuse to rake around for old treasures and to discover old ones. Today, it’s a classic: Dame Myra Hess playing her arrangement of JS Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, from his Cantata 147.
I was really stuck for a picture to go with the post, until I remembered this photo taken last year during a visit to the Loretto Chapel in Murbach, Haut-Rhin, France. You do have to see these glorious murals in person to properly appreciate them, but I hope that this gives you just a taste of the beauty of the place. A real Holding Heaven moment.
